An intriguing English 19th c Music Stand or Reading Stand with many adjustable positions. A brass plaque with the Royal Crest tells us that it was invented and made by J. Carter, 6A New Cavendish St., Portland St.,London W. The mechanics are beautiful and allow adjustments to many positions enabling the reader/musician to find exactly the most comfortable position for their needs. The Base is of decorative cast iron ending in clawed feet on brass castors - the stem is twisted cast brass and extends - the little wooden table is also fully adjustable the the music/book holder is also entirely adjustable . Completely original and desirable! Circa 1890
