These are interesting and rare - bought all the way from Lamu, off the Kenyan north coast. The Poles are beautiful and lacquered in wonderfully subltle colours. They were used in the old Swahili houses to hang a curtain over the family's sleeping areas where they would have been set into the walls. Circa 1750 or even earlier.
